Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.
Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the club's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant support from management,” Slot stated.
“It would be great to change things and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”
He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:
“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”
He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”
The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.
“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”
He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”
“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with results so bad.”
Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we will always fight.”
“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”
“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
