Dragon Prince Enthusiasts Backing a Spinoff Show Starring Liam O’Brien

The popular Netflix animated show Dragon Prince has concluded its seven-season run last December, but the co-creators aren't ready to let go. Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond are relying on fans to finance a fresh story via a crowdfunding initiative.

A Story Continues

The project, titled Dragon King, is set seven years after the conclusion of the original show. It follows the rise of the Dragon Prince Zym while he strives to establish a fragile peace in the realm of Xadia. His rule faces danger from the return of a banished figure with a claim to the throne.

Massive Backing

The campaign has surpassed its initial funding target, with more than half a million dollars pledged by supporters. This overwhelming support shows the passionate audience eager for more stories within this world.

Beloved Cast Reprising Roles

Fan-favorite figures from the original show are coming back, with performances from their original actors. These include Callum (Jack De Sena), the elf assassin Rayla (Paula Burrows), and Claudia (Belmonte). Basco, famous for his role as Zuko from Avatar, returns to voice the Dragon Prince in an expanded part. New to the cast will be Liam O’Brien as an original role named Luna Devorans.

Backer Rewards

Backers contributing to the project can receive multiple rewards, including access to a Discord community, merchandise like an embroidered patch or a stuffed toy. Top donation levels include even more benefits such as a producer title, minor speaking roles, or even a studio tour.

Funding the Future

The money collected will be used to create teasers which can help sell the series in Hollywood. Should the Kickstarter reaches the $1 million goal, backers will also get a live-play one-shot starring Liam O’Brien and other cast members using Tales of Xadia, the official tabletop RPG.

Fans have shown they are excited to see new content from the world of The Dragon Prince, with this backing, The Dragon King could soon become the next chapter.
