Officers Shoot Suspect After Stabbing Attack at Manchester Synagogue
Authorities shot a person of interest after several individuals were attacked with a knife and a car was reportedly driven toward members of the public outside a Hebrew congregation in Crumpsall.
Sequence of Events
Law enforcement were called to the location on a local road at 9:31am after a witness reported seeing a vehicle being driven at pedestrians and a man being stabbed.
"Gunfire were discharged by armed police personnel at 9:38am. One man has been hit by gunfire, thought to be the offender," authorities announced in a public update.
Medical Response
Paramedics reached the scene at 9:41am and are presently tending to injured individuals, with four people having injuries from both the vehicle and stab wounds.
Members of the public are being asked to stay away from the vicinity while authorities proceed to handle the situation.
Area Consequences
Accounts suggest a security perimeter has been established and a major thoroughfare has been shut down as officers attend the event.
"Following reports of an occurrence on Middleton Road, the service has dispatched resources to the scene. We are currently evaluating the circumstances and coordinating with other members of the emergency services.
