Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait too much longer. An exciting demo version is set to release on Jan. 7, granting a generous look into the game's beginning segments. Critically, all progress earned within this demo can be imported directly into the full game upon its February launch.
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined constitutes a from-scratch reimagining of the seminal year 2000 role-playing game, initially released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a distinct departure from other Dragon Quest remakes, such as the previously launched HD-2D versions, this version embraces a striking three-dimensional aesthetic. Locales have been crafted to look like detailed model sets, with party members sporting a appealing toy-like appearance.

Square Enix has added a host of changes to streamline the classic experience. Among these are:
Such alterations are aimed at address one of the 2000 game's frequent points of feedback: its immense playtime. The initial main quest was known to take over 100 hours to finish. This reimagined version has been expressly reworked to refine progression and reduce perceived filler.
Curious adventurers will be able to begin exploring the transformed world of DQ7 firsthand when the free demo becomes available on Jan. 7. Subsequently, the complete adventure, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, will then be scheduled to release on February 5, 2026. It will be available on a broad selection of systems, including Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X.
