Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend after the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the Wolves board as they start the process of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
