The Opening Xbox Game Pass Additions of 2026 Reveal Xbox Is Still Fighting.

Everywhere you go, commentators persist in tolling the funeral bells for the Xbox brand. Xbox was recently outsold by a lesser-known competitor. Platform-specific outlets have started writing on PS5 topics unprecedentedly. The past year represented an era of significant turmoil for Xbox and Microsoft. However, judging purely by the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it is apparent that Xbox continues to plan to draw people in with quality releases on its key platform.

The Current Inclusions

A pair of titles you can play right now at this moment, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, are not the headliners. Rather, it's what is coming to Game Pass in the coming weeks that's worth getting excited about.

Significant Forthcoming Releases

Come mid-January, Game Pass will add the often-overlooked Star Wars Outlaws, a vast exploration title that refreshes the standard Ubisoft formula with a cosmic robbery tale. An additional significant inclusion is Resident Evil Village and its giant Lady Dimitrescu, which our 2021 review called "a superb mixture of horror and action."

Compelling Indie Titles

Yet, the less-hyped additions coming to Game Pass soon deserve recognition. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, an unjustly ignored roguelite that's a blast to play, drops on Jan. 7th — and it's worth experiencing regardless of whether you played the first Lost in Random game.

The game set in a ruined Britain from last year may draw you in in about 15 minutes flat.

Atomfall, the stealth survival game by the makers of Sniper Elite, is also a game to check out. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.

A Solid, Curated Lineup

All in all, this isn't a revolutionary update to Game Pass, and they don't represent first-party juggernauts that are the sole reason for the service alone. But Microsoft's additions here are exceptionally strong. There's a good mixture of old games you might have missed and fairly new titles that didn't get the attention they deserved the first time around — which makes them excellent choices to find a new audience on Game Pass.

Hope you're ready to part ways with The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
